but I know I must confess something to you:
I may bleed red, but it’s nothing, I’ll brush it off for you.
This light touches me and I don’t know what to do.
Somebody will save me from you,
but until then, I’ll endure.
I’ve felt trapped within your barrier,
I’ve tried to escape this nightmare,
I’ve screamed for endless nights
but nobody was there to hear!
Your hand felt so palpable across my face
I could taste the sweat escaping my pores
in fear you’d repeat!
Now I’m left feeling ashamed,
knowing I didn’t please you such as you did me.
Give me one more chance to make it right.
Sorry, I’ve moved on pain will no longer touch this face.
Compeling! Turns on the heart!
I thought that here is no help for ” I’ve felt trapped within your barrier…” but surprisingly, there is a resolution – ” Sorry, I’ve moved on…
Very impressive, precise and dramatic show of words and feelings.
Thank you, Bradley Howington!!!
It was a pleasure to read!
My warmest regards,
Thank you for your kind words! You’re welcome, Elena! I wanted a “resolution” for this poem because I believe it sends a wonderful message to those who may be in a violent relationship.
